April 2019 Month-in-Review

April was another whirlwind of a month.  I finished my watch of all 67 then-existing Game of Thrones episodes in the 67 days before season 8 premiered.  I have been recapping each episode the night it airs and those posts dominated my stats this month.

I am back home in the mountains now after completing another grueling year in the academic salt mines.  In addition to finishing my grading, I am celebrating accepting an offer to publish my latest academic work.

Read on for more on my April stats and my plans for May!

When the Night King is coming so you put on your red pants.

I am very happy with the new Gravel and Guts: Grit Lit and Country Noir Books Facebook group, but April was just an okay-ish month for views for Hillbilly Highways.  Every Day Should Be Tuesday, on the other hand, was buoyed by the Game of Thrones posting and April was my best month for views since January and my sixth best month ever.  It was a busy month of posting with 24 posts across the blogs.

I continue to have a big backlog of posts for both blogs that I need to get out.

I may not be making progress on Mount TBR, but at least it didn’t grow for one month.  I acquired four books and finished reading four books.  This month I’m going to try to finish a few books I’ve been “reading” for way too long and to read a couple books that have been sitting on my shelves for way too long.

Blogging at Every Day Should Be Tuesday for May will continue to be very heavy on Game of Thrones.  But with May being Wyrd and Wonder month, I do want to get out a few non-Game of Thrones fantasy posts.

This summer I plan to catch up on a lot of reading and a few other things I’m keeping under wraps for now.

Will you be reviewing King Rat?

Probably not for either blog, but I should really get around to writing a short Amazon/Goodreads/Litsy review.

Ok, so you review at those places but don’t post them on your blog? Just want to make sure I’m reading that correctly. Because I’ll follow your litsy account if that is where you post book reviews.

I used to review everything I read at Amazon. I got away from that when I started this blog because I don’t blog much of what I read here, but I’m trying to get back to reviewing everything, even if it is just a very short review. My Litsy profile name is TuesdayReviews

Oh man…the Sho-Gun books were some I always wanted to read but never got around to. I should fix that…

  4. I too like King Rat. It’s the only book on your list that I’m familiar with. I think the movie is very good also. Clavell wrote some very good literary best sellers. I thought Michener fell into that category too, but he wasn’t as good as Clavell. Congratulations on your publishing.
