Guest Blog: Conan was dumb, and 4 other common misconceptions by David Thomas

Conan is obviously intelligent in the Robert E. Howard stories, and an expert at his profession (war). I wouldn’t even go so far as to call him naive. If you’re going to tell a sword and sorcery story, the default is to big damn heroes, not big dumb heroes.

I wrote extensively on Conan (both the original stories and pastiches) this summer.
