2016 Planetary Awards Nominations

The Planetary Awards are hosted by Planetary Defense Commander.  It is open to all book bloggers, book podcasters, and booktubers.  It has only two categories: shorter stories (under 40,000 words) and longer stories (over 40,000 words).  My nominations are under the cut.

SHORTER STORY

The Gift of the Ob-Men by Schuyler Hernstrom, from Cirsova vol. 1

I already read Vance, but The Gift of the Ob-Men was the spark that lit a #pulprevolution fire in me.  It’s full of weird shit and packs a hell of a punch, a bite-sized epic.

LONGER STORY

Arkwright by Allen Steele

Arkwright is a hard science fiction yarn, multi-generational family drama, and paean to the history of speculative fiction all in one tremendous novel.  My review here.
